As many professionals in the life science industry are aware, businesses in the biopharmaceutical industry must observe stringent procedures for tracking and reporting in respect to Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S), both to reduce risks to the organization and to meet legal requirements.
The below post, the first in a three-part series, outlines the specific challenges one of our clients faced in this regard, leading to the organization’s search for an electronic solution to manage these processes. The next two installments of this blog post series will explore how the company came to choose Sparta Systems’ TrackWise solution for its EH&S processes and the results the business is realizing from its implementation.
This customer story is from MedImmune, a wholly-owned biologics unit of the global biopharmaceutical leader AstraZeneca PLC. With 20 years of innovation in the biologics industry, MedImmune is headquartered in Gaithersburg, Md. and employs approximately 3,300 employees in eight locations in the United States, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
MedImmune’s old paper-based EH&S system had serious drawbacks, with inefficient incident reporting and no standardized means of tracking corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs). The company sought a modern, web-based, holistic EH&S solution that would incorporate a common philosophy and approach, standardize definitions and processes at a corporate level (while providing flexibility for site-level variations) and result in continuous improvements in EH&S management throughout the organization.
Stay tuned for the next installment, in which we’ll examine the circumstances that ultimately led to MedImmune’s selection of TrackWise for its EH&S system.
